From Overton with Love
Paulette’s began its story in 1974 in the heart of Overton Square, where founder Paulette Fono introduced Memphis to a dining experience inspired by her Hungarian and French roots. What started as a neighborhood favorite quickly became a citywide destination, known for its gracious hospitality, timeless recipes, and a menu that balanced European tradition with Southern warmth. Under the longtime stewardship of George Falls, Paulette’s grew into one of Memphis’s most celebrated restaurants. Falls preserved the restaurant’s classic spirit while elevating its reputation for tender steaks, fresh fish, house-made crepes, and the now-iconic popovers with strawberry butter—dishes that became synonymous with anniversaries, first dates, and milestone celebrations across generations of Memphians. As the city evolved, so did Paulette’s. The restaurant eventually found a new riverfront home at River Inn of Harbor Town, where its legacy continues along the banks of the Mississippi River. Today, Paulette’s blends its storied past with a refined, contemporary setting, offering guests the same sense of tradition, elegance, and heartfelt hospitality that first defined it in Overton Square. More than a restaurant, Paulette’s remains a living chapter of Memphis’s culinary history—where every table carries a story, and every meal honors the legacy that began over five decades ago.
